New River Gorge National Park

Picture
Boy Scouts Venturing
A rugged, white water river, flowing northward through deep canyons, the New
River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. The park en-compasses over
70,000 acres of land along the New River, is rich in cul-tural and natural
history, and offers an abundance of scenic and recrea-tional opportunities.
Whether you are into outdoor activities such as climbing, biking, hiking,
whitewater rafting, or just like to kick back for a picnic, a quiet bit of
birding, or camp and watch the river roll by, New River Gorge National River has
much to offer. There are many possi-bilities for extreme sports as well as a
more relaxing experience.
